Reggio Emilia
It is a typical example of a city based on a Roman plan. Its geometry was probably also the origin of the hexagonal medieval city walls, which have almost completely disappeared today. Situated in a strategic position, it is near Bologna, Parma and Modena, that are three of the best cities to visit in Northem Italy. Reggio Emilia is also known because Italy’s tricolour flag was first adopted here in 1797. Although a small city, there are a lot of things to see. The tour may start from the Tricolour Hall (Sala del Tricolore in Italian) and its Museum. A must to see are the Basilica della Madonna della Ghiara and the Spazio Gerra with its installations of contemporary art of the last years. Reggio Emilia is known for producing Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and balsamic vinegar, a condiment for salad but also strowberries and many other dishes. It is also recommend tasting their herbed pumpkin ravioli when you find it on a menu. Nowadays, famous for its gastronomy and lifestyle quality. Come in Reggio Emilia, people are proud, yet friendly!
